About the foundation
Transforming lives in Nyegezi, Mwanza
Nihurumie Child Group Organization (NCG) is a community-based organization founded in 2019 and registered under Tanzania's NGO Act No. 24 of 2002. We support children, youth and vulnerable groups — including children with disabilities and adolescent girls — promoting their rights, dignity and access to opportunities across six streets in the Nyegezi neighborhood.
Mission
To provide quality, inclusive and equitable education, together with accessible and specialized physiotherapy and occupational therapy services, for vulnerable children and youth in the Nyegezi neighborhood, in the city of Mwanza.

That every vulnerable child and youth reaches their full potential — improving their physical, mental and social well-being, preventing disabilities and restoring their dignity and confidence.

Why Nyegezi Ward?
A critical entry point into Mwanza City
Nyegezi hosts a major bus terminal where thousands arrive daily from across Tanzania. For many vulnerable children it becomes the first point of contact with urban life — and often the beginning of life on the streets, with no shelter and no protection. NCG is often their first lifeline back to education, family and a future.
2017
A growing crisis
Street violence, child labor, neglect and exploitation in Nyegezi reached critical levels — calling for urgent community-based action.
2018
Building trust through play
Volunteer teachers organized sports and games on Nchenga street, creating a safe space where children could feel valued and share their stories.
2019
Officially registered
Nihurumie Child Group (NCG) was registered as a CBO (No. MCC/CD/CBO/113051), expanding to education, family outreach and psychosocial support.

What we do
A holistic, community-based approach across six streets of Nyegezi Ward.
Education & School Supplies
Scholastic materials, uniforms and access to basic education through our learning centre, plus sanitary pads for adolescent girls.
Family Outreach & Empowerment
Counselling, family reunification and small capital for income-generating activities like selling vegetables, fruit and fish.
Sports, Talent & Mentorship
Sports, games, life skills and moral education that build confidence and social inclusion among children and youth.
Street First Aid & Health
First aid for children living on the streets, response to urgent needs and referrals to health facilities when possible.
Child Protection & Psychosocial
Safeguarding, counselling and emotional support to help children overcome trauma and stay safe in their communities.
